Home Movies: Best Ideas To Cut Your Viewing Costs
A trip to the theater can be an expensive night out. A good way to cut down on the expense, which often includes overpriced snacks in addition to the price of the movie tickets, is to plan a night of family viewing. Here are a few recommendations of upcoming DVD/Blu-Ray releases that will keep the family entertained and not break the bank. You just have to supply the popcorn.
“Little Fockers” (PG-13) Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro remain the best part of this weakest link in the “Meet the Parents” franchise, but it does offer enough to keep fans of the first two movies happy. There is some sexual humor targeted at adults which will probably go over the heads of younger viewers.
“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” (PG) The third film adaptation of the popular book series is just as delightful as the first two were. If your kids love Harry Potter, they should enjoy this one. There is plenty of action to keep adults interested too.
“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I” (PG-13) Part one of the final installment of the popular franchise arrives on DVD/Blu-Ray just in time for fans to enjoy it before Part II hits theaters in July. There are plenty of extras and a sneak peak at Part II that will keep Potter fans happy.
“Gulliver’s Travels” (PG) Jack Black stars in this take on the Jonathan Swift tale that should have been better than it was, but wasn’t. Emily Blunt’s talents are totally wasted here, but if you’re looking for a rental for the weekend, this will do.
“Justin Bieber: Never Say Never” (G) Just harmless fun for young teen fans here. Bieber playing, well, Bieber.
“James and the Giant Peach” (PG) This 1996 computer animated film features the voice talents of Richard Dreyfuss and Jane Leeves. It is the tale of a boy who befriends human-like bugs living inside of a giant peach. Heart-warming with a sense of humor.
